What's the best place to start learning HTML programming?

I want to learn to build websites and create programs that perform whatever tasks I want them to proform. Where is the best place to start learning all this programming stuff?

What's the best place to start learning HTML programming?
Your best bet is to dive right into it. Start with writing your own HTML code, do not use a WYSIWYG application (eg. Dreamweaver, FrontPage), instead start with a simple program like notepad and get your self familiar with the syntax of html. Once you've got a firm understanding of how html will work then you can switch to a WYSIWYG.

Once you have Basic HTML down you can take it to the next step and learn a backend processing language like JavaScript, ASP, JSP,etc.. or more design oriented things like Flash.

This should serve you nicely, but be prepared to have an abundance of patience, as building these sites is a time consuming and tricky event, and even exprienced web builders spend many hours looking for a single error in type for their pages to display correctly.

Good Luck
Reply:I'd start from common knowledge, HTML is not a programming language.
