PHP, ASP, Visual Basic (or similar for .NET), Perl, Oracle
Reply:For the web, PHP is always safe bet. It's the most commonly used language on the web at this point. Pair it with a MySQL database and you can do pretty much anything.

Reply:I didn't see Java in any of the answers. I don't think it's going away any time soon. If you're looking to specialize is any of these languages, I'd suggest that you go the .net or Java route.

Microsoft Visual Studio is comming along way very fast with their .net programming languages and environment. They dump so much money into R %26amp; D and give out free versions of the development environment, SQL server and other tools, I can't imagine that these language tools will fall by the wayside.
