I am interested in Programming, what should the computer have?

I am interested in learning C++ programming, javascript, and other computer programing languages. Also, I plan on doing some Video editing, music editing, 3-d Modeling and 3-d Animations.

Do I need a faster processor? Alot of RAM? Or exactly what would I really need in order to fulfill my needs?

When you do get your computer, you'll need a good IDE (or integrated development environment). Eclipse is a good one that has extensions for C++, Javascript and other programming languages.

The actual system requirements will depend on the type of programming you are doing. If you are doing video editing/3d modeling, however, I would suggest having a fast hard drive (and a big one), lots of RAM and a fast processor.
Reply:for the latter, I would say a mac, they are the best for digital media and editing. I'm not sure about c++ programming, you may want windows for that. but the new Imacs are awesome.
Reply:I am sorry to disappoint you but you want too many things at once! You better learn one thing very well and know a little bit from everything else!

For Digital Media, YOU NED A MAC,they have cool graphics!

For C++ Programming, you would need a PC(a pentium 3 is ok) that is running a *nix OS (FreeBSD, Linux(Check out ubuntu.ccom), Solaris, etc)

You should run a *nix OS fro programming because it helpes you understand how thing work! But if you still want windows, get Microsoft Visual C++

Hope this helps!
Reply:Programing doesn't take a lot of Ram but the animation and grafics need much faster ram. because i am a programmer and also a webdesigner so based on my knowledge 1gb ram is enough for your need.
