What is the best way to learn smart card programming?

i am interested in smart cards recently but i dont really know where 2 start...i wonder if i have to pay for the SDK or is it possible to find a free one? and which programming language should i use?

What is the best way to learn smart card programming?
The Java programming language is the easiest place to start with smart card development.





You can download the Sun Javacard SDK from http://java.sun.com/products/javacard/ and get started. It's free.





You're also going to need a smart card reader and a few smart cards to work with. Alternatively, you'll need a smart card simulator. I don't know if the latest version of Sun's Javacard has a built-in simulator. It not, you'll probably have to download and pay for one.
