I need programming instructions for a 1993 Buick Regal Gran Sport. Yes It Has that Option!!! There is a wire in the trunk that cycles all of the door and trunk locks when connected to ground. Can't seem to get it to recognize the Keyless remotes.

That's great! You're multiskilled! You'll be able to create programs to help the hospital/clinic/patients if you can fit that in. And being in the nursing profession, you would be able to understand/see a lot of things that regular programmers wouldn't and incorporate that into the programs. I hope you'll get the opportunity to do it.

I want to learn web programming and design. What are the best programs to master?
I would like to be a project manager for a web company. I need to learn a variety of programs in order to do this. I do not have any of these skills presently. Any idea of which basic programs I should learn first followed by moderate and difficult programs.
Time lines necessary for each program would also be helpful.

I tried re programming my remote but nothing is happening still. Do i need a new remote?
The lights on the bottom of the remote work and the Wii works but the remote won't work on screen. I've tried new batteries and reprogramming the remote several times. Is there anything else I can try before going out and buying a new one?

I know you changed the batteries but take them out %26amp; leave them out for several minutes. Give it a half hour.
Some programmable remotes have a capacitor to hold memory while you change batteries. Sometimes that will let them reset.

How do be more interested in computer programming, I am totally not interested now?
I am currently a computer science student, and I have to do programming assignments. The problem is that I am totally not interested at all in programming. So how do I be more interested in what I am doing.

First off class programming assignments are only fun when you make it a game to build the first smallest fastest most interesting solution, try to make it the cleanest in the class. If you're not competitive try doing it while listening to music.
On the side you have to want to build stuff, I assume you've built models or drawn war pictures as a kid or played strategy games. Programming is about applying a strategy to solve a puzzle to win by making the bits, bytes and symbols do what you want them to better than the other guys solution or you copy theirs from open source credit them extend what they did and move on.
Build a web site on your fav hobbie and add some php to it.. Learn how to throw each assignment onto the page... Use stumbleupon with the tech / programming sections turned on. Pretend you're in Wargames, Hackers, or Tron.
If none of these things sound like fun to ya switch up your major.

All I'll say is don't be stuck doing something you lack interest in for the rest of your life. I assume you are just beginning college and there is plenty of time to discover other interests. If necessary, take a quarter/semester off from school and find out what you enjoy. You'll be thankful that you did over the next forty years.

I like to do programs that can control external devices. Try make a simple circuit with say 8 LEDs and put a battery and try to use your parralel port to make it blinks some funny pattern. I like the feeling when everything starts to work, and you will feel that with programming, you can control stuff.
That's how i like programming. Or you can try write a program that display one white dot in the screen and then make it move about in a random manner.
Silly isn't it. But remember knowledge you can learn from these silly practises can make you money.
Whatever you choose to learn， just have fun ok.

What course / training do i need to do for a software / programming / networking job in NY / NJ ?
I did MCA (Master in Computer Applications) in 1998 (from India). Was in the teaching field for 5 years. I am 35 years old now. Recently i moved to NY. I am looking for a job in the computer field (Not teaching). But i do not have any experience in the software / networking industry. I earned CCNA certification in 2003, but it was expired in 2006. Presently i am not in touch with any of the latest technologies. My interests and skills are in programming side.

* the application irrespective of the computer part ... that is what we are programming ... manufacturing industry, accounting, trucking, retail ... whatever the business is ... if we don't know the business reality, that uses the computers, our computer know how is worthtless
* try to keep abreast of changing technologies ... it seems like we are doing the same work again and again, but using different languages OS tools etc. to get very similar results, so as the world moves to newer ways to do the same results, or not as good, or new features, we need to learn the new stuff
* know how to implement combination of a particular operating system, networking system, programming languages, data base system, to meet whatever the changing business needs are.
So for example ... in the last week, I was asked for, and I delivered:
* Figure out why some accounting totals did not agree with each other ... I tracked it down to some parts being entered into the system without proper costs, then costs fixed later, so different transactions at different times on the same parts either had null value or corrected value
* Figure out why a particular accounting total jumped by a large sum of money on different days ... I lreverse engineered where the data came from
* Change schedule of products our customers need us to make for them, to show total shipments in last 3 months, to help enhance lot sizing ... for this I wrote 4 programs, 2 in RPG, 2 in CL, in which I basically took some existing programs, copied them, re-wrote some sections of code, embedded SQL/400 to extract the new data desired.
* List of all transactions posted to General Ledger for fiscal year 2006 (the report was 4,000 pages which came to 28 meg which was too big to e-mail, so it was sent via CD Rom) ... this software delivery was via a combination of different programming languages
* Total $ expenditures by vendor for the year 2006 ... this software delivery was via Query
There are several tasks I currently have that sound simple, but are taking forever because I have never done that kind of networking before ... I suspect we do not have some stuff installed on our computer systems that are needed to make stuff work, and I am hampered for lack of any documentation or manuals on what I am being asked to do.
There's also some work I do when time permits, such as:
* forensic accounting ... where I am identifying suspicious patterns of data flows, and back tracing them to identify any cases of us paying for services not received, or where costs have risen so dramatically that adjustments need to be made in our pricing

Dude...use a frontpage program by microsoft. U don't have to be a whizkid just some general knowledge..and get some books to guide u.
Once ur done, you can host it on the web using a the large amount of free hosting sites available today...my fav. is brinkster.

And then for database why not use frontpage to hook up ur wepage to say a simple SQL database. again it can be done with frontpage...

For the past 2 years I've been a computer programming major, I love the work I do (on assignments), the assignments are starting to become somewhat repetitive, and I honestly feel (and have felt) like this was the type of work I feel like doing as a full blown career.
The school at where I am at seems to focus more on the teaching of different languages (quantity over quality I would guess), regardless I have already started to realize that all programming languages are very similar (and some even have the exact same syntax!). My question is since I am wanting a job in the business world (originally I wanted a job with a video game company, but I would honestly rather have job stability and a higher paycheck so I think I might do something in database management) and I am getting close to my degree (finally!) what other aspects of programming should I look into.

I'm sure it can be done, but if you are beginner to intermediate level, this might be alot to chew off. In your case, I would say the Treo 700w will best suit your needs (though I think the 700p is a better consumer level PDA overall).
Be warned though, the Windows Mobile OS is something of a resource hog. There isn't a lot of room in the Treo 700w for large complex 3rd party applications. The Palm OS is much more compact, uses Treo memory better, and leaves more room for 3rd party applications.

It is great language to start with as it teaches you efficient, well structured coding which is will serve you well with any language you learn after that. Best of all it is free and well supported in the community.
Java is often mooted however for a first attempt at a modern programming language I think it can be hard going. Best to come back to that one after you have learned a lanugage or two and are comfortable with them.

I have tried it, its free, runs on Vista, is easy to learn, makes nice-looking programs, has lots of learning resources, an included IDE (editor) and has a BASIC (VisualBASIC) component. The 2005 version is available now: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express... and the 2008 version in in beta 2. It does lock you in to Windows, of course.

What computer programming language should I learn?
I want to design a progrm that will aid me in designing marching band formations coupled with music. The program would have to be able to import and analyse a song (Mp3, wav, midi) and determing the tempo. It would then have to allow me to design the placement of various persons, and then syncronise them together to show the moving formations while the music is playing.
I realize that this program will be rather advanced, and I am asking what language will best suite this application. It would almost definitely need to have a GUI.
Any Suggestions?

In the middle of the page, it has "For Windows Development" Read the descriptions of each and select the flavor that works best for you.
If you have never programmed before, what you are trying it do is, yes, quite advanced. I have been doing web programming myself for upward of 10 years, and I wouldnt confess to even know where to start on that.
It might be a good idea, when working with music, to work with C++, you will have more "low level" programming available to you. Program what you can, then I would suggest to use some "cheap" international programmers from rentacoder.com to help you with some of the more complex pieces that you can drop into your code. Signing up for a membership with experts-exchange.com will also help you get through the learning curve.

Reply:This is beyond your ability to create; however it is not beyond your ability to design. If you create a detailed explanation of what you want, I am certain that you can get this done; likey for free or a small fee if you can find a bored programming student. I used to be one of those myself.
If you are intent on doing it yourself, then grab a book on C# and have at it. While VB is extremely simple ot use, I would say that you will be happier with C# in the long run, and beleive me, this isn't going to be a weekend project. Regardless of the language that you choose, try to stick in the .NET arena since you are not a developer.
Reply:You'll need a mainstream programming language with GUI and Sound libraries/bindings. C/C++, C#, VB.NET, Java, Python, Ruby are all usable. Python and Ruby can have C extensions, so you can combine C with Python or Ruby to have good solid and effective code.
The problem is that GUI and sound are not programming languages themselves. So after learning a programming language you'll need to learn a GUI and sound toolkit. Once you have gained programming experience, you'll know how to tackle GUI and sound.

If you have never programmed before, what you are trying it do is, yes, quite advanced. I have been doing web programming myself for upward of 10 years, and I wouldnt confess to even know where to start on that.
It might be a good idea, when working with music, to work with C++, you will have more "low level" programming available to you. Program what you can, then I would suggest to use some "cheap" international programmers from rentacoder.com to help you with some of the more complex pieces that you can drop into your code. Reply:This is beyond your ability to create; however it is not beyond your ability to design. If you create a detailed explanation of what you want, I am certain that you can get this done; likey for free or a small fee if you can find a bored programming student. I used to be one of those myself.
If you are intent on doing it yourself, then grab a book on C# and have at it. While VB is extremely simple ot use, I would say that you will be happier with C# in the long run, and beleive me, this isn't going to be a weekend project. Regardless of the language that you choose, try to stick in the .NET arena since you are not a developer.
Reply:You'll need a mainstream programming language with GUI and Sound libraries/bindings. C/C++, C#, VB.NET, Java, Python, Ruby are all usable. Python and Ruby can have C extensions, so you can combine C with Python or Ruby to have good solid and effective code.
The problem is that GUI and sound are not programming languages themselves. So after learning a programming language you'll need to learn a GUI and sound toolkit. Once you have gained programming experience, you'll know how to tackle GUI and sound.

I took my first computer programming class just this semester, algorith design and problem solving. The teacher was obviousl talking about how to create codes, but I still dont' know HOW you do it. You have to realize that 90% of tha obstacles you face are the ones you put there yourself (usually by making excuses).....
You realize that not everything is all about you, but rather what you are willing to give.....
You realize that you wouldn't worry so much about what others thought of you if you found out how seldom they actually did....
You realize that all people crave acceptance, appreciation, admiration and approval from other people (they just have different ways they go about getting it)......
You realize that almost everything is a choice, that you are not a victim, and that you are in control of your behavior....
You realize that each obstacle you face has 3 opportunities hiding behind it (1-to overcome, 2- to learn something, 3-to improve something).....
You realize that emotionally driven behavior and decisions are usually bad ones, and you choose to remain objective....
When you start to grow empathy, and learn to consider the points of view of other people, and you give that some weight....

What are the most important computer programming languages for an electrical engineer?
This is just me, I have been an EE in IC circuit design for 10 years. Here is what I use Every Day.
Perl, lots of Perl. Quick scripts for data mining from all the simulations you run.
Spice Language. I do a lot of circuit simulations using Spice simulators.
C for the more complex scripts or tool scripts to support the IC job.
Now that is just me in my everyday job. The reality I face is that I program all the time and I am a Hardware designer. Hope that helps

I'm tired of trying to find people to jam with and having to work around everyone's schedule, so I am looking into doing everything myself. I am a guitar player by trade but want to create a small home studio, so what should I do to program drums? Should I go with a keyboard/MIDI setup, go straight software, or just buy a drum machine unit? My gut tells me to go hardware based, but it seems like a keyboard w/ MIDI is a good half-way between hardware and software. Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

How do you install the Eclipse programming tool on Vista?
I can't get it to work, it's very difficult to unzip all the downloaded files, and when I try to launch the exe file it says something about not having the right companion file. Please can I have a VERY clear step by step guide for how to do it? Bear in mind that I'm computer illiterate. Cheers!

The UI can be a little bit confusing, but heres how it works... the items on your left represent different download options that you can add to your download (keep in mind you can use eclipse to develop a wide range of technologies). So for instance, I can customize my download and type in RAILS, hit find and add the Aptana Ruby On Rails IDE, then type in Python and PyDev comes up. I will now be able to develop both Python and Ruby on Rails with eclipse. When you are done customizing, select your platform of choice and click start download.
The tools don't require a special download to run on vista.

Although I don't have Vista (have 98SE), I had no problem as mine came as a single package. I used an unzip program that unziped the entire thing and placed it in a single folder. Then I simply installed from that folder. There should be a 'setup.exe' file to do the installation.

They dump so much money into R %26amp; D and give out free versions of the development environment, SQL server and other tools, I can't imagine that these language tools will fall by the wayside.

Your best bet is to dive right into it. Start with writing your own HTML code, do not use a WYSIWYG application (eg. Dreamweaver, FrontPage), instead start with a simple program like notepad and get your self familiar with the syntax of html. Once you've got a firm understanding of how html will work then you can switch to a WYSIWYG.
Once you have Basic HTML down you can take it to the next step and learn a backend processing language like JavaScript, ASP, JSP,etc.. or more design oriented things like Flash.

I believe software engineering is all about applying a methodology and process to solve a problem with software. It will involve requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, configuration management etc. The end product may be a program or more likely many programs that work together with other existing things.
Computer programming is just the part of the above having to do with developing a program. You can develop a program without following a methodical process (for instance, without a well thought out design, or without a guiding premise such as object orientation) - but chances are it will have limited maintainability, quality, and ability to work with other programs or systems reliably

My grandsons have KPL and they can modify programs in there and see what changing lines and values does to a program. Is this true for any computer programming language?

Changing others software to see the result will get to the point to be a tester instead or constructor. To automate process which most of the programs do will also involved the logic flow, too. The current object oriented design concept are even more complicate than the logic flow. Formal training (with your own or classroom training) is better way to be a good software design.

I also think it's related to those "subliminal messages" tapes that supposedly instruct us in foreign languages while we sleep and such. I believe that research has shown that a person must be consciously aware and decide to stop a behavior .... any real experts out there?

NLp is a very good science, but I haven't heard it helps with smoking but I donot know that much about it. there's lots of free websites to give you an idea, just type NLP techniques in google.

Computer science vs programming. What is the better route? What independent studies should I do in high school
I'm planning on going into the computer field after high school. Right now I am a junior (11th grade) and an honors student. I am stuck between Computer Science and Computer Programming. Even though I'll be taking Calculus AP next year in high school, I want to stay away from advanced math as much as possible as that's one my weaker subjects. I'm shooting towards a well-paying career (over $70,000US a year not considering the inflation rate in the next decade). I'm looking for advice on whether I should go toward a Computer Science major or Computer Programming? I have an open period this year and one open period next year during my school day in which I can do an independent study with the help of my computer programming teacher. So far I am familiar with Visual Basic 6, HTML, Java, many professional web design applications and can troubleshoot many problems on Windows.

Programming is a subset of CS. CS deals more with problem solving, algorithms (step by step solutions in english), data structures, computer architecture, etc. things on a much more theoretic/abstract level. You also learn application/database architecture, crucial to providing overall solutions.
Programming on the other hand is just a language used for a particular application (solution) and gets translated into via an algorithm written in english. Example, I had never used Active Server Pages (ASP) or Visual Basic (VB) before and wrote a full blown enterprise application using these technologies and the only thing that slowed me down was learning the various language syntax. Bottom line, a degree is invaluable, learning languages is secondary.
I believe a Computer Science degree is the best credential, don't worry about level of ease and for high school, focus on math, physics, etc. I personally went to a Cal State where their CS program was accredited (very hard) and got the most out of it but go check out various univeristies for CS programs.

If you want something less technical that still pays well, you could also look at MIS (Management Information Systems). MIS people use tools to solve the IT problems encountered in the workplace. This also requires physical presence, so it's not so easily outsourced. Computer Scientists are the ones building the tools. So, if you like making new stuff, CS is the way to go, but it's a harder major.
