I'm considering and LCD or Plasma TV. Currently, my two top choices are The Sharp AQUOS, and Philips Ambilight, both 42 inch. Since I will realistically be watching more standard definition programming on Tivo, I'd like any advice on which TV will perform better?
Any experience on either model would also be appreciated.
Thanks!
What is a better TV for watching standard programming?
I have a Samsung Flat-screen 40inch Plasma, it is pretty good. I can't say it is the best TV, cuz with certain color shades, small but noticeable red pixel dots appear (usually on dark blue). With Plasma, you have to be careful with screenburn. If you fall asleep while playing a DVD and the main menu is on screen all night...you will see a hint of the menu while watching other channels. That's annoying. I wanted a HiDef TV, but settled for the Plasma since at that time it was 1000$ cheaper. I thought I would be happy with the Plasma...but I find myself wishing for a High Def TV.
Reply:There both pretty similar in performance.
The main question you will want to ask
yourself is, will you be able to live with
the Philips Ambilight? Also, Philips
has been known for reliability
issues across their entire
product line. So...
