I just bought a HD ready LCD TV. What do I need to do to get my new TV to show true HD tv programming?

Do I need to buy any more equipment? I receive HD programming through my cable tv so what do I need to do?

An HD cable box should be all you need. Make sure you have the right cables so that the picture quality makes it to your television correctly. If you requested an HD box from your cable company then they will provide such a cable for you.

If you want to get an even higher end cable for excellent picture quality you might want to look into a digital HDMI cable. Personally I haven't found such a cable to be necessary, the one the cable company gave me is doing a great job.
Reply:An alternative to cable HDTV is OTA, or Over the Air, HDTV signals that you can pick up for free. There are a number of OTA antennas on the market and systems like Microsoft's Media Center Edition 2005 (Windows OS) have the ability to use OTA HDTV tuner cards. But, your best selection of channels is going to be via cable.
Reply:If the TV came with an internal Tuner, you're ready to go - providing you have a UHF antennae installed/connected that is able to pick up local (Over the Air (OTA)) your channels such as FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC, and PBS -- all of which broadcast many shows in HD. To get other HD movies and sports programming, your choices are limited to DirectTV, DishNet, and Cable ... all of which require a contract with them and a special Tuner/Receiver (that they provide). There are great deals being offered by all of them that basically has you paying nothing for installation and the equipment - providing you sign up for a minimum term contract - usually 1 year.
