Why do people post so many non-programming questions to the programming group?

Myspace backgrounds, spreadsheet problems, and crashed computers have little or nothing to do with programming, but make up the bulk of posts to this group. Why do so many people post such off-topic items to this group? Is there a way to discourage it?

Reply:There are a few shining examples of stupidity?
Reply:Because some people live too far away from an interstate freeway so they can't go play in the middle of it any time soon.
Reply:I think they do it because of the "%26amp; Design" part.
Reply:Why do people voluntarily use AOL?





Why do people teach COBOL?





Why was Windows ME ever made?





The answer to all three questions is the same:





Some people are stupid.
