What needs to be done to make up for the lack of art programming in schools?

What is important about art and this issue? and what needs to be done to recognize its importance? How do people begin to take this issue seriously?

What needs to be done to make up for the lack of art programming in schools?
A good start would be voting for a Democrat for the Presidency. I'm not being sarcastic. Bush brought in the education budget cuts.
Reply:Art programs aren't the only aspect of education suffering due to budget cutbacks. Teacher's positions are being cut, field trips have been dropped, some sports programs, music programs, basic supplies...

My sister, a teacher, isn't even getting the 2% Cost of Living increase this year.

Sadly, education is suffering all around so the lack of art programs isn't getting attention because it all needs attention.
