Which programming languages I need to know for an online game?

I want to create a multiplayer browser-based game, something like a mmorpg (massivly multi-player online role-playing game), but I don't know which programming languages I need to know in order to do that. I know only some basics of programming but I'm willing to learn anything that is needed for creating this sort of site. Can someone help me and tell me EXACTLY what I need to know?

My suggestion is to learn java, java is pretty powerful.

The way to start learning java is searching for java tutorials.

www.java.com is a good place to start.
Reply:C++ with OpenGL or DX9 API for a Windows XP Base MMO, Java for a Website Based mmo.

BTW ... i agree w/Bill
Reply:Yeah, if this is going to be browser-based, as the others have said, the language would be Java. Look into creating Java Applets.

By the way, I don't want to wreck any fantasies, but don't expect to complete this game any time soon if you are just starting out with programming.
