What programming languages do I need to learn to create an auction site?

I want to create an auction site, with simular (but extended) features compared to eBay.





I'm in the process of learning CSS (already know HTML).





Which programming languages would I need to learn? Or, if you think it'll take too long, what kind of languages should I use to build this site?





I wish Yahoo Auctions was still around :(

Rather than reinventing the wheel, why don't you use an open-source auction site software, of which there are plenty?

Most auction software worth its salt is going to be PHP and MySQL.

Maybe one of these will work.
Reply:most likely you would need PHP programming knowledge, as well as experience with MySQL databases. If you are going to be handling credit card or confidential information then you should be aware of security issues.
